YouTube VR and Casting coming to Oculus GO
This year's Oculus Connect reeled off a series of announcements for Oculus GO, with YouTube VR's arrival leading the pack.
Wednesday's Oculus Connect continued with the latest news on Oculus GO. The latest update is getting a lot more user-friendly, with the latest announcements targeting groups of friends.
Among the biggest announcements is that YouTube is getting a VR app. YouTube VR will offer up the platform's best content, as well as content that's specifically crafted for 360 environments. Not many other details were offered, but YouTube VR is coming soon to Oculus GO. A version of YouTube VR is currently on Steam Early Access.
Oculus GO will also implement other ways to interact socially with friends. Oculus Venues is targeting new live music concerts from AEG, movie marathons from Lionsgate, and the most intriguing of new additions, the ability to watch NBA League Pass from virtual bleachers. Anyone who utilizes the NBA League Pass feature from NextVR will receive an unlockable avatar with their favorite team's jersey.
All of this will go well with the Casting feature that's coming soon to Oculus GO. This allows Oculus users to directly cast their games onto mobiles devices. Shortly after this feature is deployed, Oculus will look to extend this to TV, allowing Oculus users to cast their games onto nearby televisions.
These features are coming soon to Oculus GO.
