During Wednesday's Apple Event, Bethesda's Todd Howard made a surprise appearance. To help show off the power of iOS 12, Howard showed some more from the mobile title, The Elder Scrolls: Blades.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades showed off many of the visuals and sound design that Howard states was previously only possible on a high-end gaming console. Many of the outdoor environments were reminiscent of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, as was the dragon that closed the demo.

Howard also reiterated the game's premise. Players will take the role of a Blade, an elite warrior in the Empire. Players will define their characters and how they opt to approach combat, utilizing either defense, melee, or magic.

The Elder Scrolls: Blades is available for pre-order now and is set to release on iOS this fall. For more, be sure to check out our recent hands-on from QuakeCon.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
