Anthem game director: "A world that has been abandoned by its gods"
The 'shared-world social RPG' has plenty to offer players.
BioWare's upcoming new IP Anthem is going to be quite the phenomenon when it finally releases next year, and fans can't wait to get their hands on it. Shacknews caught up with game director Jon Warner for a conversation on all things Anthem and what kind of science fiction world-building we can expect from the game - including the final say on what kind of game it actually is.
Anthem is a "shared-world social RPG, sometimes known as the 'shooter looter.' From the genre's perspective, it is a science fantasy adventure," said Warner.
But much more interesting than the game's genre is certainly what went into putting the storyline together. "We decided that we would make this a world that has been abandoned by its gods," said Warner. "It is super dangerous as a result of that, so it requires heroes who are able to use these Javelin exo-suits because it gives them these super-heroic powers to go out and deal with the world."
Currently, Anthem is scheduled to release on February 22, 2019. Make sure you take some time off for the game accordingly!

Anthem does not look great to me.
Great graphics, wonderful polish. But the gameplay looks kinda stale.
The story seemed really wierd to me too... like... you are some kind of mercenary? But there is no explanation as to how you got some crazy high tech shit that nobody else has...?
I dunno. It's a "wait and see" title, for me. It hasn't wow'd me so far.
