The voice of NBA Jam lobbies for Dota Jam announcer pack

Legendary voice of NBA Jam Tim Kitzrow is pushing to be the next voice of Dota 2.

Dota 2 has had a lot of fun with announcer packs over the years. There's one that features Portal 2's GLaDOS. There's one that adds sardonic British humour, courtesy of the Narrator from The Stanley Parable. There's the dueling banter of the Rick & Morty announcer pack. Heck, there's even one with Gabe Newell himself. So it only makes sense that another iconic voice of video games would want to get a piece of the action.

For those who don't recognize the name "Tim Kitzrow," he's the legendary voice of NBA Jam. He's had a little downtime in-between helping promote both the game's 25th anniversary and the upcoming Mutant Football League: Dynasty Edition, so he's taking some time to help put together a new Dota 2 announcer pack. Coined "Dota Jam," this announcer pack is inspired by previous DOTA 2 mods and is currently in the demo stage.

A fully-featured Dota Jam announcer pack will go into production in the coming months, but it's still not an official part of Dota 2. The Dota 2 fanbase can do their part to make this an official addition to the game by voting for it on the Steam Community page.

Those looking to catch up with the voice of NBA Jam and Mutant Football League can revisit our NBA Jam 25th Anniversary interview from back in January.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
