Experience the open world of Assassin's Creed: Odyssey in exclusive gameplay video

New 4K video capture follows protagonist Alexios through several missions.

After taking a two year hiatus from the series prior to the release of Assassin’s Creed: Origins, Ubisoft managed to rekindle some of the fire that made the series popular with players. The ancient Egyptian setting of Origins proved popular with the masses, so the series returns this year with Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey and brings the action to the other side of the Mediterranean sea in ancient Greece. Shacknews was able to get some exclusive 4K gameplay footage of protagonist Alexios working through a few of the game’s missions.

Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey was originally leaked earlier this year by the existence of a keychain, then later shown off during E3 2018. The ancient Greek setting shares much resemblance to the coastal cities found in Origins and much of the latter stages of that game featured interactions between Cleopatra and the Greek leader Julius Caesar. Odyssey follows the story or twin protagonists Alexios and Kassandra, each of which is playable in the game.

Our own Donovan Erskine got the chance to play Assassin’s Creed: Odyssey during E3 2018 and wrote up a preview from his experience. You can start stabbing Greeks on your own when the game launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC October 5.

It’s really good, as is the DLC for it. It’s a huge game with tons to do. The first DLC is worth playing, but the second is completely amazing. You have to travel to the land of the dead a number of times and those environments are insanely cool.

It’s kind of weird they didn’t do any of this in the core game because it really mixes things up, and I doubt many will ever play it.

You can dial back the icons in the settings. It’s nuts by default.

Yeah, was kind of boring. I forced my way through it. Great graphics at least.
