New Sonic Team Racing trailer highlights how to go fast together
There's a handful of ways to assist your teammates and wreck your opponents.
Sonic is hoping in a kart in the upcoming return of Team Sonic Racing later this year and the "team" aspect is what will, hopefully, make this racer stand out. In a new trailer, Sega shows off the different features and mechanics that make teamwork special. When it comes to the team you race with in Team Sonic Racing, where you place isn't the only way to help out your squad. There's an active element, allowing players to assist teammates with abilities, by taking out specific enemy racers, or by directly giving them items to help them out of tough situations.
Here's a list of ways you can use teamwork to dominate your opponents:

Skimboost: Boost struggling teammates back into action as you drive by!

Slingshot: Slipstream a teammate for a slingshot boost!

Rival Takedown: Knock out highlighted opponents ahead and speed past them!

Item Box Transfer: Send and receive Wisps with teammates anywhere on the track!

Team Ultimate: Use Team Mechanics to fill your Team Ultimate meter and unleash a massive team boost!
As you see above, the new trailer also introduces new characters from Team Rose: Amy Rose, Big the cat, and one of four variations of a Chao creature. Team Sonic (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles), Team Shadow (Shadow, E-123 Omega, and Rouge) and Dr. Eggman have previously been revealed. Team Sonic Racing is being developed by Sumo and is currently slated for a Winter 2018 launch on PS4, Xbox One, PC (digital only), and Nintendo Switch. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
