Meet the Aussie man who tells you how to do the thing.
G’day, mate. Now that the stereotypical greeting is out of the way, let’s get down to brass tacks. I’m Sam Chandler, the Guides Editor for Shacknews and the resident Australian around here. I live on the opposite side of the world, which means operating on the opposite side of the clock. Most of the time I’m burning that midnight oil, getting guides up onto the site so that you have all the information you need when you wake up. My job is to make sure you know where to go, how to kill the boss, and how to find that last item that's been escaping you for hours.
I’m relatively new to this little industry about video games in the grand scheme of things, but I’m here for the long haul. While my particular set of skills dictate a preference toward long-form guides, I’m not entirely unaccustomed to writing news pieces (I love me some patch notes) or even diving into a review (Dark Souls Remastered). I cut my teeth writing guides on Reddit, where I was later poached for a paid gig (dreams do come true). From there, I crawled up the ranks, learning and growing, constantly trying to improve my skills. Above all, I hope that what I write is helpful to just one person out there. If someone is on the point of giving up in a game and I can help them through a roadblock, as far as I'm concerned, I've succeeded.
You’ll most likely catch me playing some form of single player game that focuses on story or puzzle-solving, battling it out in the latest multiplayer game, or replaying a lot of old school games from my collection of Nintendo 64 titles.
Thank you for continuing to read the words I write. It’s because of you that I get to be here, writing for the best damn site on the internet, Shacknews. Now go out there, be the best person you can be, and do it for Shacknews!
