NBA Live 19 Adds Female Create A Player Feature For First Time Ever
Go wild and build your own army of awesome basketball women!
NBA Live 19 has done something extremely cool, especially if you're into creating your own basketball players. For the first time ever seen in a basketball game, NBA Live 19 will include the ability to create your own female player in-game. Not only will you be able to make your own female player, but you can use them in The One, to build up your squad and progress through the mode the same way their male counterparts do. It's an awesome victory for women, and a step toward "leveling the playing field," as the official press release notes.
Players can even scan in their faces to be used on their custom creations using the NBA Live Companion App on iOS and Android to make for a face that looks just like them. Live your ballin' dreams out in style, and implement some your favorite players' moves for good measure, including Icon Abilities from superstars like Candace Parker, who's featured in the official trailer.
This is some serious progression for the sports gaming industry, and great news for anyone who's ever wanted to appear in a basketball game but was shut out because of their desire to create a female-presenting avatar. EA is inviting folks to celebrate this new announcement with the hashtag #ShesInTheGame on various social media accounts, so it's clear the developer knows the implications of how cool this is. It's kind of sad that it took this long to implement. Still, I'm not going to look a gift horse in the mouth here, and reiterate that it's an exciting time for female basketball fans!
NBA Live 19 is coming to Xbox One and PlayStation 4 on September 7.
