No Man's Sky Devs Tease Seasons of Weekly Content & Events
The No Man's Sky Next update will be followed up shortly by community-focused events.
"With over 40,000 players in-game at the time this article was written, it's safe to say that the Next update for No Man's Sky has garnered a lot of interest. The development team has been diligently adding more to the game despite the exceptionally turbulent launch and Next isn't a signal that development is done. In a message to the community, Hello Games has teased a community season as the next step in the No Man's Sky development roadmap and it will feature weekly content and events.
In the letter on the official No Man's Sky website, Sean Murray reflected on the community's support of the game since launch. 20% of players hit over 100 hours of playtime and 5% hit over 1000 hours, with over 200 million hours played collectively. With that, Sean Murray and the team have plans to do more with their dedicated community "little while after the release of No Man’s Sky Next".
Games like Warframe, Rocket League, and Fortnite have built strong followings with content seasons while others like Rainbow Six: Siege have bounced back from tough launches with similar structures. No Man's Sky has been positioned well with the Next update along with the Atlas Rises, Pathfinder, and Foundation expansions. The debut of weekly content seems like the perfect way to keep these new and returning players around.
We're not sure how soon these new events will start, but Hello Games will reveal more information in the coming days. Stay tuned to Shacknews for additional updates.
