The Walking Dead: Our World Shambles Onto the App Store and Google Play Store
Time for some AR magic that isn't related to Pokemon.
AMC's take on Pokemon Go, The Walking Dead: Our World, is out now on both iOS and Android platforms, so you can bring the zombies from the show into the real world if you so choose. The location-based augmented reality game is free to play, and features a map of the real world that users can explore and outwit zombies to survive.
Players can tap on zombies nearby on the map to attack them and shoot them dead, or collect caches of treasure while out in the world as well. You can "see" the zombie enemies in real life just like you would when capturing Pokemon in AR mode, unlocking weapons and additional characters like Rick, Daryl, and Michonne along the way. They act as sidekicks of sorts, offering special abilities and skills to help you defeat the zombie hordes.
There's also co-op play that lets you build your own base with others, which can help accrue more goodies as time goes on. It's essentially Pokemon Go with zombies, if that makes sense, and it seems like it has the potential to blow up if it's anything like Pokemon Go has been for Niantic. Developers Next Games have helmed this particular project, and it remains to be seen how it will perform, but chances are it's going to hook viewers of the popular zombie show.
