New Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido Trailer Serves Up Anime Realness
It's fishing for compliments with that art style.
Nintendo's quirky upcoming Nintendo 3DS Puzzle game Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido got a new gameplay trailer today with loads of awesome anime goodness. The sushi-centric game has a story beyond all the puzzle-solving you'll have to do too, believe it or not, which is what the trailer attempts to explain amidst some seriously striking anime segments.
As such, the official synopsis is appropriately silly:
"Imagine a world in which the sinister Empire controls the consumption of sushi with an iron grip and denies any mention of it to all inhabitants of the vanquished Republic. Players assume the role of orphaned hero Musashi (playable as either a male or a female avatar), embarking on a grand adventure to restore sushi to the world. Meet a colorful cast of characters along the way, including treacherous local bully Kojiro, musclebound Imperial enforcer General Kodiak and beautiful sushi assassin Celia."
The game finds players working with three sushi conveyor belts in front of them and several different plates of sushi that come down the line. You'll have to link together various dishes with the same color so you can eat the sushi and chow down before throwing the plates at your enemies. There are several different combos to learn and divine beings known as Sushi Sprites -- over 50 of them -- you'll discover along the way as well, who can evolve into powered-up forms.
If this all looks like it'll reel you in, you can catch Sushi Striker: The Way of Sushido when it launches on June 8.
