BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle Datamine Reveals DLC Characters
Software spelunkers dove into the recent BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle beta code and discovered what appears to be a selection of upcoming DLC characters.
The release window for Arc System Works' upcoming fighter title BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle is closing fast. Ahead of its planned release next month, the developer recently hosted a full beta test for players who preordered the game, which was a fine opportunity for dataminers to have a look around the game's code. Inside, they found references to several upcoming characters that appear to be part of future DLC packs.
Unannounced DLC characters for BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle. All characters have a menu portrait, and the blank ones are for characters that ArcSys has yet to talk about. Thanks to @john_michonski and @Supersonicfan7 for help with identifying some characters. pic.twitter.com/l4tmW9EXzW

As revealed by Twitter user Ehm, the characters slated to be featured in Cross Tag Battle include recognizable faces from other popular games: Merkava, Yuzuriha, and Mika from Under Night In-Birth; Mitsuru, Labrys, and Akihiko from Persona 4 Arena; lastly, Izayoi, Mai Natsume, and Nine the Phantom from BlazBlue.
Since the game hasn't yet been released, it's possible that the characters alluded to in this code may not actually be featured in the game at any point. That said, with the code being where it is, it's still very likely that the aforementioned fighters will make their way into BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle in the coming months. Until then, players will have to wait and see — and fortunately that won't be too long, as BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle is slated to release for PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, and PC in North America on June 5. Interested parties can find more details on the game over on the official BlazBlue: Cross Tag Battle website.
