Android P Mobile OS Launches in Public Beta Today
If you've been patiently waiting for the latest version of Android, rejoice! The wait is over!
Ready to get your hands on the latest version of Android? Today at Google IO 2018, it was announced that the public beta for Android P is going live today, which you can sign up for right now via this link. This time around, the offer to test out Android P is also being extended beyond only Google phones, too.
You can test it on several different models, if you have one of the following: Oppo’s R15 Pro, Nokia’s 7 Plus, Sony’s Xperia XZ2, Xiaomi’s Mi Mix 2S, Vivo’s X21, Pixel and Pixel 2, and more. If you simply can't take waiting any longer to take Android P for a spin, grab your favorite device and sign up for that beta test, Android fans!
When you opt into the beta, you'll be receiving beta updates via your normal software updates, but once you decide you want to be a part of it, you won't be able to leave without wiping your phone and going back to the latest release of Android Oreo, or whatever you had your phone running prior to jumping into the beta.
If you're not so sure if Android P is for you, here's a bit about what to expect from the new update. For one, App Actions will try to predict what action users will be taking next, which will be based on usage and relevance based on various Google Apps, including Google Play, Android Launcher, and Google Assistant.
Additionally, Android P will ring Slices, which are essentially ways for Google to implement "pieces" of search results inside Google Assistant when you search for something. They "surface" information from apps you have on your phone and help you to access them a bit better, which is a little simpler to understand. There's also adaptive battery and brightness features, by way of Google Deepmind, which uses machine learning to anticipate what apps you'll be using and switching back and forth to, as it learns what your brightness setting are in various surroundings.
Google P introduces a wealth of changes that you'll definitely want to make room on your plate for, so if it all sounds like something you're eager to test out, head over to sign up for the beta here.
