Overwatch World Cup 2018 Groups Announced
The 24 teams that will compete in this year's Overwatch World Cup have been named.
The Overwatch World Cup is getting ready to make the trip to this year's BlizzCon. Dozens of countries have been competing for the chance to make the Overwatch World Cup field and on Tuesday evening, Blizzard announced the groups that will advance to the next stage of competition.
Here are the 24 countries set to be a part of the Overwatch World Cup:
Group Stage - South Korea
- Team South Korea (host country)
- Team Chinese Taipei
- Team Finland
- Team Hong Kong
- Team Japan
- Team Russia
Group Stage - United States
- Team USA (host country)
- Team Austria
- Team Brazil
- Team Canada
- Team Norway
- Team Switzerland
Group Stage - Thailand
- Team Thailand (host country)
- Team Australia
- Team China
- Team Denmark
- Team Spain
- Team Sweden
Group Stage - France
- Team France (host country)
- Team Germany
- Team Italy
- Team Netherlands
- Team Poland
- Team United Kingdom
Next comes Phase 1 of the voting phase, in which each country will look to craft their competition committee. Blizzard will select each country's GM, while users can apply for the Coach and Community Lead positions. More information can be found on the Overwatch website.
The Overwatch World Cup group stages are set to begin in August.
