'The Witcher' Netflix Showrunner Lauren S. Hissrich Tweets New Info on Series
Which actor will do Geralt justice, though?
If you can't get enough of Geralt of Rivia, you're probably thrilled about the upcoming Netflix original series coming down the pipeline based on the popular novel and video game series The Witcher. The upcoming show is helmed by screenwriter and producer Lauren S. Hissrich, and while we won't be seeing the show until 2020, today Hissrich detailed some interesting tidbits about the show that we previously weren't aware of just yet.
Following a special Netflix event in Rome, Hissrich shared some newsworthy bits from the presentation that give us a little more insight into the show. For one thing, it's going to span eight episodes.
"Yes! I know, I know, it may not seem like enough for you, but creatively, it's the right call. The episodes can be tight, action-packed, rich in character and story, without lagging in the middle of the season. Sounds good to me, sound good to you?" Hissrich's enthusiasm for the project is palpable, as demonstrated in her tweets.
Happy Friday! So much information coming out of the @netflix event in Rome. I'm told by my friends and colleagues that the level of excitement and anticipation for #Witcher was crazy! Let's sort through it...

She also clarified that the show will be shot in Eastern Europe, as it just "couldn't exist anyplace else. Period." As previously stated, however, it's going to be quite a while before we get a glimpse at what it might look like, as she also mentioned that the script definitely still needs polished. In fact, it still needs to be written.
THE SCRIPT NEEDS POLISHED. I'd take a step back from that to say: the scripts need WRITTEN. I've finished the pilot, which yes, will be polished more when we cast/shoot. The other 7 episodes don't yet exist, except in my head. And guess what? New writers are joining me soon, too!

WE'LL BE SHOOTING IN EASTERN EUROPE. Yes! This show couldn't exist anyplace else. Period. Also, I just spent ten days surrounded by Slavic eye-candy. I MUST come back, soon.

But there's one thing tht Hissrich didn't share, particularly because she couldn't: The cast. "Don't even try," she teased. Hopefully, those are details that come down the pipeline in the near future. Until then, we'll just have to be content with the small details we've been given. Let it sink in: a Witcher series is actually happening, and it might actually be good!
