The prequel to the eight games that comprise the Ys series, Ys Origin place a massive 700 years before Ys 1: Ancient Ys Vanished, and it's the first game where stalwart protagonist Adol Christin actually doesn't star. Instead, you'll explore with three playable protagonists: Yunica Tovah, The Claw, and Hugo Fact.
With three distinct stories for all characters as well as unique skillsets, you'll explore the land named Ys, ruled by twin goddesses Reah and Feena. It's been overrun by demons, and there's now an enormous tower that needs to be taken down. With the power of the Black Pearl and other devastating magic, you'll need to rescue the Goddesses from their kidnappers and restore peace to the land.
New to Ys Origin is a special speedrun mode as well as a "blood option" that can limit the amount of gore players see during battle. Ironically, the game also looks way better than the previous "early" Ys titles, which were collected in the Ys I & II Chronicles on PSP and Legacy of Ys: Books I & II on Nintendo DS.
