Banner Saga 3 Gets Official Release Date, Nintendo Switch Port
The gorgeous rotoscoped Viking saga continues this summer on all major platforms.
Developer Stoic burst onto the scene in early 2014 with The Banner Saga, a turn-based tactical RPG featuring rotoscope-style art that was a hit with critics and gamers alike. The studio had its sequel, Banner Saga 2, ready to roll back in the spring of 2016. As we approach the second anniversary of that release, the team at Stoic are preparing to drop the third Banner Saga onto gamers this summer. According to publisher Versus Evil, Banner Saga 3 will be launching July 24th on PC, Mac, Xbox One, PS4, and Nintendo Switch.
Steve Escalante, General Manager at Versus Evil had this to say on the forthcoming conclusion to the Viking RPG trilogy: “Banner Saga 3 will maintain the legacy created by the previous two games in the series. Even more exciting is the fact that in addition to PC we are bringing Banner Saga 3 to PlayStation 4, Microsoft's Xbox One and the Nintendo Switch simultaneously at launch. Stoic have created a trilogy that will stand the test of time as one of the best RPGs ever created and one that has resonated with fans from all over the world. This is it! This is the end. If there was ever a time to experience the Banner Saga it is now."
Banner Saga 3 will launch with several digital editions, including Standard ($24.99), Deluxe ($29.99), and Legendary ($39.99). Xbox One and PS4 will also be seeing a physical release of the trilogy dubbed The Bonus Edition. It will retail for $39.99. A digital version of the trilogy will be available on PC as well. While Nintendo’s Switch portable will get Banner Saga 3 day and date with the other platforms, the release of the first two games in the trilogy will come at a later later date.
