Check out this exclusive interview where we talk about Unreal Engine 4's role in AR, VR, and movies. We also chat about Fortnite and the Nintendo Switch. Carmack should write some kind of input middleware that other companies could plug into whatever they're doing. I started playing Quake 3 (Quake Live, whatever) again because Champions is shit, and it's supernatural how much better it is than anything since as far as player input/movement is concerned.

Reflex Arena I'd put on the same level...nobody plays it but DAMN the mouse input and overall feel is solid as fuck.

I'd say it's a large part of why the Call of Duty games were so popular, even though to a majority of casual players all that stuff might be something they aren't even consciously aware of.
The setting and speed and weapons were completely different from Quake 3, but it still had the same solid feeling and response underneath it all.
