Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn Gets Official Release Date
The zany world of Shaq Fu returns in A Legend Reborn, set to make its formal debut later this year.
Say what you will about cult classic title Shaq Fu, but the game has managed to capture the hearts and stoke the amusement of video game fans even decades after its initial October 1994 release date. The follow-up title, known as Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn, is a game that the Shacknews crew just can't hear enough about, and now we finally know when we can get our hands on the Diesel's latest outing.
Set to formally release this coming June, Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborn is an effort to invigorate the Shaq Fu brand with gameplay elements that aren't completely ridiculous or terrible. If that sounds like a tall order to you, well, you aren't alone. Fortunately, the development team at Saber Interactive readily admitted on the game's 2014 Indiegogo campaign page that while the original game might have been awful, the new game shouldn't be. If you need more convincing, check out the latest Nintendo Switch trailer, featured below.
It's worth noting that not only does the game feature the likeness and motion-capture acting by Shaquille O'Neal, it also features a number of rap bars spit by Shaq himself. On the combat side, players will be able to make use of a number of different weapons and combos, ranging from street-worthy baseball bat beatdowns to the mystical katana and shuriken expected by those with a natural understanding of the original games' otherworldly lore.
Last but not certainly not least, Saber Interactive and publisher Wired Productions will be bringing the latest Shaq-centric adventure to the Nintendo Switch. Players will be able to check up on all of the game's action and carefully-crafted charms when Shaq Fu: A Legend Reborns releases for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and Windows PC digital storefronts on June 10 for the pleasingly low price of just $19.99. Sounds like you'll have to pick it up now, right?

Looks like it could be fun. Not a huge beat em up fan these days, but I'll give it a shot if it gets a physical release.
Kinda wild how negative the backlash against Shaq Fu has been over the last decade or so. Went from being mediocre on release to "WORST GAME OF ALL TIME". Makes you wonder what from this generation will suffer the same fate. Something obscure like Lichdom? A licensed title like Duck Dynasty (final boss is a beaver dam!)? A high profile fuck up like Battlefront?
