THQ Nordic Resurrects Red Faction: Guerrilla for Re-Mars-tered Edition
THQ Nordic continues to pour love into all your favorite games of yesteryear.
It seems like only yesterday that we were spending a lazy summer being a space asshole in Volition’s cult classic, Red Faction: Guerrilla. The third game in the Red Faction series, Guerrilla took the mayhem to Mars and ratched up the famous destruction mechanic to new heights. A simple man with a simple sledgehammer could bring down the mightiest of structures. While the fun of Red Faction: Guerrilla has never faded, the graphics quality sure has. THQ Nordic is resurrecting the title for a new Re-Mars-tered Edition that promises to improve the graphics and bring the action to current generation consoles.
Set to arrive for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, the Re-Mars-tered Edition will offer the following enhancements to the visuals:
- Fully reworked graphics – Heavily reworked textures and graphic features adding for example specular maps.
- Improved shadow rendering
- Improved Lighting
- Shader & Postprocessing rework
- Native 4k support for the finest up to date mars destruction experience ever
While no specific release date has been set, THQ Nordic expects to have the game ready to go before the end of the second quarter. Fans of Red Faction have reason to rejoice as the publisher has a track record of bringing previous generation hits into the modern age, including Titan Quest: Anniversary Edition back in 2016. Additionally, when THQ Nordic first took over the Red Faction IP following the dissolution of the original THQ, it invested the time and money to convert Red Faction: Guerrilla from the shuttered Games for Windows Live service to Steamworks. The amount of attention and care shown to the franchise should excite fans about this upcoming release.

Soo... this would mean that Space Asshole is actually on the official soundtrack for the game... and the story has been re-written to be about some major dick who lands on Mars basically to trash the place and leave? Also to reflect on the plight of the poor citizens of Mars who were victims of the Great Space Asshole.
The new game coming out next year is about how Mars society rebuilds after the GSA Calamity... only to be beset by the second coming of the GSA. He lands in a ship with a giant Puffin painted on the side and his favorite catch phrase is: "The Wizard has Come..... bitches!" (Obviously voiced by Jeff Goldblum)
