Game Devs Set Up Fundraiser for GDC 2018 Attendee Severely Injured in Car Accident
AI Designer and gaming industry advocate Dave Mark is on the long road to recovery, but will be receiving a good sum of financial support gathered by his friends and peers in the industry.
GDC 2018 just wrapped up and, unfortunately, one of the attendees was injured while crossing the street in San Francisco. AI designer Dave Mark was severely hurt, but his developer peers have rallied to raise funds to cover medical costs, rehabilitation, and family travel expenses.
Gamasutra reported on the accident and Go Fund Me, sharing that nearly 300 game developers and supporters have come together in Mark and his family's time of need. Since being struck by a car, he's undergone surgery and has been in the ICU. His friends and family believe it to be a long path to recovery for him, which makes this financial contribution all the more important.
Mark worked previously on titles like Hero's Song and EverQuest Next and the Go Fund Me page is filled with very kind words recounting Mark's genuine goodness. The fundraiser is nearing its $24,000 goal in only one day and any that wish to contribute can still do so here.
All of us at Shacknews wish Dave Mark speedy recovery.
