State of Decay 2's Price Dropped To $29.99, Release Date Revealed
An ultimate edition of the game will cost $59.99 and includes early access to the zombie survival experience.
State of Decay 2, which made it onto a couple of our Most Anticipated 2018 Games lists, is the sequel to one of the unexpected hit zombie titles to come from the last generation and fans have been eagerly awaiting the official release date. Microsoft revealed today that not only will the game be launching on May 22, 2018, it will have a lower price point of $29.99 and it will be available on the Game Pass subscription service at launch.
We previously reported on a rumor that Amazon leaked the release date for State of Decay 2. The leak set it on May 25, which is only a couple days off.
IGN revealed the official release date, including a statement from Microsoft GM of Games Marketing Aaron Greenberg on the subject of the lower price. "Our goal is to build a long-term relationship with the State of Decay community and to foster deeper experiences with the franchise," he says. "We believe State of Decay 2 accomplishes this goal by immersing fans in the ultimate zombie survival fantasy, and we want to give more players the opportunity to join in and experience this unique game.”
The game will also come in an Ultimate Edition, which includes early access to State of Decay 2 on May 17, a free copy of the Year One Survival Edition of the first State of Decay, and access to the Independence Pack and Daybreak Pack DLCs that will release post-launch. State of Decay 2 launches May 22 on Xbox One and PC with early access starting on the May 18 if you purchase the Ultimate Edition.
