Fantasy author Brandon Sanderson's first novel in The Stormlight Archive series is crossing over into the world of VR with the upcoming virtual reality experience The Way of Kings VR: Escape the Shattered Plains.

Greg Burke sat down with Arcturus Studios for a guided tour of what we can expect to see from the upcoming "interactive narrative," as the developers refer to it. Written by Joshua Rubin and created to help walk fans of the series through the magical land of Roshar by the fairy Syl, players will become the character Kaladin.

You can learn more about the forthcoming VR release in the interview below.

The Way of Kings: Escape the Shattered Plains is coming to Viveport and Steam for HTC Vive for $10.99 on March 2. If you're looking for something a little different when it comes to virtual reality narrative experiences and you enjoy fantasy novels, it might be something you want to keep an eye on.

Oh! I didn't realize this demo would let you play as Kal. That's awesome. I wonder if we'll get to carry bridges! And mope and mutter while Syl pokes fun at us! :D :D

Great books, but I’m bummed I don’t have a Vive, I only have PSVR, because I was able to get one for under $100 with the move controllers. I don’t plan on buying one for my gaming rig until the next generation of pc headsets launch.
