This week on Shack's Arcade Corner we take a look at the classic run and gun arcade game Shock Troopers. The game hit arcades in 1997. Shock Troopers was developed by Saurus and published by SNK as part of the Neo-Geo arcade/home platform family of games. The game featured some gorgeous sprite animation for its time and a wide variety of weapon pickups. Shock Troopers even featured some pretty unique gameplay mechanics for the time like a dodge roll, a melee attack move, and even strafing. That sounds funny in 2018, but this game hit arcades nearly twenty-one years ago at a time when all sorts of games were experimenting with gameplay. There were eight playable characters and two play modes based on sticking with one character (Lone Wolf) or being able to switch between three characters in real-time (Team Battle). Shock Troopers has received a number of console ports throughout the year and is even coming to Nintendo Switch. Check out this video to find out more about Shock Troopers.

First time playing Shock Troopers, and I love it! Easy enough to be enjoyable, and make you want to keep pumping in the quarters.
Is there a good strategy for those Wolverine-metal-claw double bosses at the end of Stage (3-4?) They gave me the most trouble.
It reminds me of TMNT meets Guerilla War ( https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guerrilla_War_(video_game) )
