Nothing satisfies the old gaming itch like a good card game, and it just so happens that the mobile platform is perfectly-suited to such a variety of electronic entertainment. Good news is on the horizon for mobile gamers, then, as independent developer Slothwerks is gearing up to release an all-new card-based adventure. It's called Meteorfall, and it follows in the footsteps of other adventure-based card games by presenting players a choice of different heroes and the ability to collect cards and build custom decks in order to tackle incoming challenges. Check out some of the title's gameplay in the new trailer, featured below.

The bulk of Meteorfall's gameplay will focus around various cards, each of which presents a specific ability. Players will able to guide their heros around to different locations and use cards to do things like attack monsters and cast spells, all while making use of a simple swipe-based mechanic.

It's safe to say that the game has a unique sort of style, but players shouldn't be fooled by the cutesy facade: sure, the game looks easy enough to play in short-form sessions, but from what can be seen, Meteorfall ought to offer enough substance for those occasional times when five-minute outings turn to two-hour affairs.

Players can check out more details about Meteorfall, including general gameplay guides, animations, and peeks at what the game has to offer, simply by heading over to the official Meteorfall development blog. Barring all else, mobile gamers will be able to pick up meteorfall for iOS or Android devices come January 25, where it will be presented without in-app purchases for the price of $2.99.
