Ubisoft Shows PC Gamers Love With Free Assassin's Creed IV and World in Conflict
PC gamers get an action adventure and RTS treat in celebration of ten years for Assassin's Creed and World in Conflict.
The Assassin's Creed and World in Conflict franchises are both celebrating anniversaries and Ubisoft has decided to celebrate with some free schwag for PC gamers. Both of the games have been around for ten years and unfamiliar players can get hands on a couple of the best entries in the series with free copies of Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag and World in Conflict.
Black Flag is arguably one of the best entries in the Assassin's Creed series, placing players in the shoes of pirate-turned-assassin Edward Kenway. The game introduced ship combat to the usual formula and gave gamers the pirate game they'd been craving. World in Conflict is an RTS that takes place in an alternate history where the Soviet Union invaded the US in the late 1980s. At launch, the game was noted for its engine that allowed for highly-destructible environments.
The link for the free copy of World in Conflict is live now on the Ubiblog and, after logging in, you'll have the game added to your Uplay library. Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag will be free starting on December 12 at 6 a.m. PT and will remain so until December 18 at 2 a.m. PT.

I'm not sure of the hardware specs that we had for the high end systems, but I know they were probably out of reach for even the most dedicated hobbyist at the time. Even with a fairly modern system, maxing everything out and running the demo still brings my system down below 30 frames occasionally. Beautiful game, apparently horrible optimization. That said, I am still going to set up a Shackbattle for it.
