HTC Announces Vive Arts, A Multimillion-Dollar VR Program
The new program will further HTC Vive's partnerships with various museums and exhibits with new projects like the upcoming VR exhibit for Modigliani.
You need only check out Google's recently unveiled 3D database Poly to see some of the incredible creations being made in VR. The majority are scenes and structures plain enough for modifications and incorporation into VR and AR experiences, but there are scatterings of some incredible virtual artwork there. HTC Vive wants to further expose the masses to the marriage of VR and the arts and is doing so via Vive Arts, the company's newly announced global VR program.
“With the launch of Vive Arts, we are driving Virtual Reality’s influence in art and providing access to our world’s cultural heritage. We are empowering artists to create, and consumers to experience and interpret, art and culture in new ways,” said Joel Breton, vice president, VIVE Studios. “We are thrilled for the next Vive Arts’ project with Tate Modern, and support their mission to increase the public’s enjoyment and understanding of international modern and contemporary art.”
HTC Vive has partnered with establishments like London's Royal Academy of Arts and Taipei's National Palace Museum to harness VR's immersion for new ways to explore art and culture. Vive Arts will be a multimillion-dollar extension of these efforts, with the first project being an integrated VR experience for those that attend the upcoming Modigliani exhibit at London's Tate Modern on November 23. During the experience, visitors will travel to early 20th century Paris, explore Modigliani's workshop, and more.
Viveport will be another home for Vive Arts creations and a collection of pieces are live on the platform starting today.
