Nvidia Uses the Force with Star Wars Titan Xp GPUs

If you walk into Tosche Station to pick up some power converters, maybe stop and give these Star Wars GPUs a look.

Ever look at an Nvidia Titan Xp GPU and thought, "Hmm... I want this, but could I get it in a Star Wars theme?"

Neither have I, but that's what Nvidia announced on Tuesday morning with special versions of its powerful graphics card. Each of these GPUs will come with glowing red or green LED lighting, to represent the lightsaber colors of the Galactic Empire and Jedi Order, respectively.

These two GPUs will be tools of immense power, using the Nvidia Pascal-based GP102 GPU with 3,840 CUDA cores running at 1.6GHz, along with 12GB of GDDR5X memory running at 11.4GB per second. They'll also offer 12 teraflops of processing power.

And because these are powerful Titan Xp graphics cards, they're going to come at a heavy price. These limited collector's cards will come at a whopping $1200. Pre-orders are set to open for GeForce Experience users on Wednesday, November 8. However, they'll only be able to pre-order one of these cards, meaning they'll have to pledge their allegiance to the Rebel Alliance or the Empire. Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
