Magazine Ad Reveals Gamestop's Pre-Owned Game Rental Service
The program starts in November and, for $60, players will have access to 6-months of unlimited pre-owned gaming.
Gamestop seems to be on the verge of making a powerful move into another leg of the gaming industry. A magazine ad has been spotted and it shows a new program beginning in late November called Power Pass that gives players 6-months of pre-owned game rentals for $60. The distinguishing feature of their program is that players will be able to keep the last game at the end of the subscription.
The ad below was spotted by ResetEra user Virtua and looks like the page out of a Game Informer issue, but that can't be confirmed at this time.
Anyone that wants to take advantage of the Power Pass will have to be a PowerUp Rewards member. Another element that sets this apart from game rental service Gamefly is that Power Pass will be used in physical locations. Those who purchase the program will be given a Power Pass Unlimited Gaming coupon that they'll have to bring in each time they want to switch games. If the game is returned defective, damaged, or defaced it will be charged to the customer.
This story is developing and we'll update as more information is made available.
