GT Sport Leaves Forza Motorsport 7 in the Dust in UK Sales
Gran Turismo Sport took all racing genre competition straight to driving school.
Gran Turismo and Forza Motorsport have quite a bit of competition across the racing genre, but the two franchises have dominated the streets for quite a while. The UK is a haven for racing experiences, so eyes were on their sales charts to see how the racing giants tested against each other. In the first race for this potentially lengthy championship series, Gran Turismo Sport sells nearly three times as much as Forza Motorsport in its first week.
Eurogamer reports that GT Sport topped the UK sales chart for the week over South Park: The Fractured But Whole, FIFA 18, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, and others. The game enjoyed not only better week one sales than Forza Motorsport 7, it eclipsed the original Gran Turismo and the latest in the series, Gran Turismo 6. The series high, though, is still ruled by Gran Turismo 5 which sold over three times more than sport.
While this is a start worth celebrating, we'll have to see if Sony's exclusive franchise is prepared for the full marathon and can get as much as they can out of GT's tread.
