Watch John Carmack's Oculus Keynote Here
Tune in for day two!
Oculus Connect 2017 started off with a bang. There have been concerns that Facebook would be stepping away from their VR efforts, but the company doubled down with a goal to bring virtual reality to 1 billion people. In day 2, Oculus CTO John Carmack will be taking the stage to further the conversation on mobile VR along with other topics and you can watch it here with us at 9:30 A.M. PST.
There won't likely be any announcements as impactful as the Oculus Go or price drop for Oculus Rift and Touch controllers, but there will likely still a lot to unpack from this talk. The standalone Go will be crucial to the goal of 1 billion VR users but, as development for Gear VR and Go will go fairly hand in hand, mobile VR will be just as important.
If you missed out yesterday, catch up on some of the biggest updates from Oculus Connect. Respawn Entertainment is working on an Oculus exclusive, the Santa Cruz project hit its next phase with tracked controllers, and Rift Core 2.0 will introduce Oculus Dash and new updates to Oculus Home.

Interested to know how much more efficiency they'll be able to gain by using their own Android OS. They've got an efficiency madman at the helm. Hearing him talk about writing a monolithic version of the OS that loaded apps in milliseconds was an eye opener.
It's also interesting to hear how much effort he's putting toward 2D / HUD and general experience of video playback. It gives me hope of the kind of quality and polish they'll be bringing to the table.
