Sony has been teasing quite a few features for their 5.0 firmware update, including a function for PS4 Pro users that allows 1080p/60fps streaming on Twitch. Now, the update has gone live for all PlayStation 4 users and the company has shared a handful of other features that made in this time around.

Codenamed NOBUNAGA, 5.0 welcomes a collection of options centered on community building and management on the PlayStation platform. Family on PSN is one of the major ones they've teased up until this point, allowing multiple adults to manage the controls for other family members that have access to the console. Friend list management has been overhauled as well, giving users a Custom Lists tab to create and edit groups of friends.

Message management has received a much-needed update in 5.0, allowing users to remove themselves from multiple message threads at once. Spam is becoming an increasing problem on PSN and the ability to delete and remove one's self from unwanted threads is a good step for now.

Newer community-centered additions via 5.0 include the new Team Tournament feature. The function goes live October 5 and will be supported initially by Uncharted 4, Uncharted: Lost Legacy, World of Tanks, and Mantis Burn Racing. Players are able to join or own up to 60 teams and each team will be able to enlist in official Team Tournaments for prizes and status. This is an exciting addition to PSN that is taking advantage of a gaming climate that is flush with the competitive spirit.
