Makes sense Red Dead Redemption takes place in 1911 which is pretty much the end of the wild west the last remaining mainland territories became states in 1912 (cars pretty much replaced horses in major cities by the mid to late teens) so you really can't go forward without it being something else entirely.

Thank god they're going with a new protagonist (anti-hero?) instead of just a Marston origin story, prequels are almost never a good idea. I'm okay with some criss-crossing with the background characters of the first game though.
Main character comes off as utterly ruthless in the trailer. Rockstar usually gets a lot of mileage out of making their protagonists reluctant assholes so you can feel better about embodying them (Nico, Michael, Marston all share that). Wonder if they'll find a way to humanize this guy or if they're just going full scoundrel with him. Trevor was a really effective character but he didn't sit well as a player stand-in.
Goddamn this looks nice, I can't wait to see what they do with it.-

Trevor was amazing as a player stand-in, because he represented how most people actually end up playing the game, ie: completely sociopathically. it's actually the first time rockstar nailed that, and the first time they haven't had seriously incongruity between what the character is and what the game is asking you to do.

INSANE! Man this is going to push a lot of Xbox One Xs and PS4 Pros.
Game looks amazing! So the PC version in a year from launch date :( ... I want to say F that and Rockstar.
I guess a delayed PC version is Rockstar's idea of DRM on the PC? Why does no journalist point blank ask them why there is no PC version the second game? Shack do it for Shacknews, ask them why there is no PC release of RDR2. Also ask them what is the reason, and ask them if they think there is a market on the PC for RDR2 and if they think PlayerUnknown's Battleground has sold well as a PC exclusive.
What are the chances that secretly they are doing a HD remake of the first game for the PC in this engine and it will release on the day of RDR2 console launch? That would be a smart move hey, I doubt this will ever happen sadly :(-
Because you already know what the stock, form-letter response will be: "We want to make the best PC version possible! And that takes extra time for polish! Even though the consoles are on the same x86 architecture the PCs are."
The real truth is that they make more money on those console games, and as an added bonus, they can double-dip when the PC players who give in and buy a console copy end up buying a second PC copy once available as well.
There's no reason aside from greed to not release on PC alongside the consoles.-

Your name's purple in Lamp, so I'll trust you know what you're talking about, but plenty of devs have come close to simultaneous releases, usually with a month or so window between. Destiny 2, Mad Max, Just Cause 3 (which were cross platform at launch) just to name a few.
An argument can be made against, when looking at the fiasco that was Arkham Knight, but on the whole, the big-budget games with planned PC releases are usually only a month out, not an entire year.
This is greed, through and through.
