Attack on Titan 2 Headed to Nintendo Switch
The lineup of platforms that will host Attack on Titan 2 includes the Nintendo Switch.
Koei Tecmo has announced that Attack on Titan 2 will be released in physical form on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch. A digital release on Steam is also planned, though no release date has yet been revealed for any version of the game.
Attack on Titan 2 is the follow-up to Attack on Titan, which was released for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Vita, and PC in August of 2016. Developed by Omega Force (best known for titles such as the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors), Attack on Titan was based on the first season of the anime of the same name, though it also explored events outside that period. In the show, brave young people survive an attack by powerful monsters known as Titans, and from that point forward they dedicate their lives to defending mankind from that spectacular threat. You can see what that fight looked like in the embedded launch trailer for the first game.
In Attack on Titan 2, players will live out adventures related to events portrayed in the second season of the same anime. Koei Tecmo is promising “versatile action and new challenges,” noting the heroes will be able to take advantage of “newly improved omni-directional mobility gear offering advanced freedom of movement and targeting precision to counter enhanced Titan movements.”
Though the game naturally focuses on action sequences, it also includes some RPG elements. Players can forge and strengthen relationships with the other members of their squad and get a better feel for life inside the walled cities, between bouts with the titular monsters.
Koei Tecmo plans to release further information in the coming weeks, which should give fans a better idea when to look for Attack on Titan 2 in stores. Are you ready for another round of battles with the Titans?
