Tuesday's Apple Event continued with the announcement of the next generation of Apple TV. The focus appears to be on picture quality this time around, as the Apple TV 4K was unveiled to the captive audience.

The new Apple TV will offer the highest picture quality in the product's history, utilizing 4K High Dynamic Range (HDR) visuals. It'll do so by utilizing an A10X chip, along with the latest version of TVOS. Those looking to enjoy 4K videos won't have to worry about paying a premium, as 4K videos will be offered on iTunes for the same price as HD videos, with users able to upgrade for no extra charge.

Users will also be able to share their music and photos from their iPhones and iPads to the new Apple TV 4K. Games from the App Store will also shine on the new Apple TV, with Jenova Chen of ThatGameCompany stopping in to demonstrate the studio's latest project, Sky.

Pre-orders for the Apple TV 4K will open up on September 15 and go on sale on September 22. The 32GB version will run for $179, while the 64GB version will go for $199. The previous Apple TV generation will go for $149 for the 32GB version.

Ozzie has been playing video games since picking up his first NES controller at age 5. He has been into games ever since, only briefly stepping away during his college years. But he was pulled back in after spending years in QA circles for both THQ and Activision, mostly spending time helping to push forward the Guitar Hero series at its peak. Ozzie has become a big fan of platformers, puzzle games, shooters, and RPGs, just to name a few genres, but he’s also a huge sucker for anything with a good, compelling narrative behind it. Because what are video games if you can't enjoy a good story with a fresh Cherry Coke?
