In other Nintendo news, it turns out the company may be introducing an Achievement system of some kind in the near future. There's also a Nintendo Direct coming up that focuses on Mario Odyssey, but that could be an opportunity for the company to officially introduce its achievement system as well.

I find myself wondering why they even went down this road at all.
Make a Switch game cartridge. Put these thirty games on it. Make a billion cartridges. Done. No one has to lineup for anything, no one has to be disappointed, no one gets deprived a Switch because you used your finite manufacturing capacity to make this weird one-off product, no one loses an HDMI port over it.-
Double dipping is good business. They can do limited runs of toy-like older consoles while working out emulation bugs within similar hardware+software frameworks as the Switch's and then later, when they're good and ready, ripe off the profits of the [Console]-Mini sales, they can launch the Switch Classic Console systems with single purchase games or even cart bundles should they decide that's better for a market.
Maybe they'll even revisit the [Console]-Mini bundles by releasing those as e-bundles/carts?
Point is, they reach more of the market this way, plus there are enough folks who will buy the Minis and re-purchase on the Switch that only making one release when you could make multiple is basically throwing away free money and mindshare. The frenzy for the Minis is great leadup reminding the public of things casual gamers may have long forgotten.-
Right, and it allows them to be releasing product while they're still trying to meet demand on the Switch hardware. By the time folks are lamenting the end of the Mini consoles, Switches will likely be easily had, and then it's like, "It's a bummer, but you can get those games you wanted on the Switch... and more!"

Well it looks like they're extending SNES shipping into 2018 and bringing back NES classic sometime next summer, so we should eventually get it all taken care of.

Nintendo was pretty upfront about NES classic supplies being limited at the time, so I don't see any reason why they would be lying about this. I just think it's kinda crazy that Nintendo are listening to the demands of the players/consumers rather than just telling us what we want like they usually try to do.
