The Escapists 2 Is Available Now on PC and Some Consoles
You can now play The Escapists 2 on PC and two of the three current consoles.
Mouldy Toof and Team17 today announced the release of The Escapists 2 on Steam, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4. That’s great news if you’ve been eagerly anticipating the arrival of the sequel to one of 2015’s more successful indie titles, but not quite as good if you were hoping to enjoy the Nintendo Switch version (which is still in development).
The Escapists 2 boasts improved graphics, crafting, and combat. Fans also had apparently spent a lot of time requesting a multiplayer mode, which is also included. Now you can work cooperatively with your friends, or even try to foil their schemes, both locally and online. Players can drop-in and drop-out in either case, working to orchestrate an amazing escape from the very beginning, or jumping in at the last moment to steal the glory.
Mouldy Toof also promises new ways to escape, new items to craft, and a new combat system. Themed prisons include three transit prisons that will force you to deal with a variety of environments as you flee across land, air, and sea.
The Escapists has been downloaded more than four million times since its launch, in spite of receiving the occasional middling review, and the young franchise has already done some interesting things along the way. There was even a Walking Dead version, for those who feel that a life in prison fatigues doesn’t provide sufficient horror.
