GOG's Pinata Madness Showers You in $3 Games
The games you get from hitting the Piñata will be valued anywhere from $5.99 to $49.99.
GOG Galaxy is a gaming client that is becoming a more and more robust and welcoming Steam alternative for PC gamers. The website regularly has some sort of sale going on, but their latest event has a new twist. Reported by Polygon, GOG is giving customers a swing at a virtual piñata at $3 a pop with random games falling out.
PC gamers are no strangers to regular sales on games. While the lowered price puts on airs as an opportunity to save gamers a few books, the sheer frequency of sales puts a strain on even the strongest of purses or wallets. With GOG Galaxy’s Piñata Madness, customers can put a few bucks into a virtual slot machine and see what game they get. In the event’s FAQ, it is noted that every game you receive will be valued between $5.99 and $49.99. Some games you can expect to see include Pillars of Eternity, Shadow Warrior 2, Heroes of Might and Magic 5, Victor Vran, and Saints Row 4.
One immediate concern with this type of event, beyond the quality of games, is the potential for duplicates. Thankfully, GOG Galaxy says that you’ll receive no duplicates or additional copies of games already in your GOG library. If you somehow do have every title available during Piñata Madness, you’ll be notified at checkout that you’re about to start receiving duplicate games. There’s also a chance new games will be added to the rotation as well.
In my first run at Piñata Madness, I purchased 3 and received S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Call of Pripyat, Darksiders Warmastered Edition, and Heroes of Might and Magic 3: Complete all three valued between $14.99 and $19.99, so not a bad haul for $9.
The crew behind GOG is building something with end to end gaming features and building it on top of a library of DRM-free games to boot. This is a neat opportunity for customers to bolster their DRM-free libraries even further, adding to a collection of games that they truly own. Piñata Madness will be going on until August 21, 2017, 9:59 PM UTC.
