Valve Announces Artifact, a Dota Card Game, to Mixed Reaction at TI7
Surely some people in the crowd were chanting 'Boo-urns!'
Valve showed off a brand new teaser for Artifact, a Dota 2 card game, today at The International Dota 2 Championships. Take a look.
There was no gameplay shown, but it is always great to see that Valve is making a new video game. The crowd reaction at TI7 was a bit less enthusiastic than Valve might have hoped they would be.
The Internet meme folks are already jumping on the negative reaction wave with this especially funny animated gif making the rounds on Twitter.

It's just a highly derivative concept and a genre that is an infamous F2P cash cow. So for Valve this is like the most uninspiring game they could possibly have done, and reinforces people's frustrations that this sort of thing is all they're capable of these days. Plus the idea is just sort of ridiculous on the face of it.
