WNBA To Make Videogame Debut in NBA Live 18
The WNBA and its stars will appear this holiday season in NBA Live 2018.
EA Sports announced today that its upcoming NBA Live 2018 will feature all the players and 12 teams from the WNBA. This will mark the videogame debut for the league that started play 20 years ago. The WNBA’s inclusion in the Live series follows the addition of women’s teams in EA’s FIFA 16 and 17.
The women's teams will be available to play in the Play Now exhibition modes, both offline and online. The teams and players will not be available to use in career modes or against the male teams, though. Some of the WNBA’s biggest stars will have their heads scanned for incorporation into the game, including Maya Moore, Brittney Griner, and WNBA all-time leading scorer, Diana Taurasi. San Antonio Stars guard Kelsey Plum provided motion capture for the game as well. While not every player has been scanned into the game yet, EA Sports Tiburon promises to continue scanning more players in the coming years.
EA made a point to emphasize that the WNBA stars and teams are exclusive to the Live franchise. This rules out the chance at seeing the women in Take Two’s NBA 2K18 that releases in September. Get a closer look at the stars in action in the official reveal trailer below.
