Developers Team17 and Mouldy Toof Studios have revealed that their next get-out-of-prison-free game The Escapists 2 will be coming on August 22. The good news for wannabe jailbirds is that a pre-order add to your rap sheet, giving you another joint to escape from.

The new penitentiary is The Glorious Regime, a prison hidden deep in a jungle, and will be available for anyone separated from their hard-earned $19.99 in advance of the release. While weighing the pros and cons is always good, in this case, the cons are pros.

The sandbox prison escape game has done remarkably well, and the sequel is adding "drop in, drop out" co-op for four players, both online and for couch play. The game has also added new escape methods, new customizations and a new brutal combat system that will leave you cowering in your corner cot. 

If you want to get a jump on the game's release, the devs have launched a Create-a-Con website where you can design your avatar in advance, then export the results.

The Escapists 2 is coming out on PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 first, followed later by a version for Nintendo Switch. If the devs have their way, the Switch SKU will be released before you are.
