Greg Burke is back with his review of Elder Scrolls Legends, a CCG based in the Elder Scrolls universe.

On this week's episode, I take a look at The Elder Scrolls: Legends. This is a free-to-play collectible card game based in the Elder Scrolls universe. In the world of CCGs, it is impossible to not talk about Hearthstone. I will focus on the key differences are between The Elder Scrolls: Legends and Blizzard's CCG behemoth in this review.

The average game takes about 3 to 10 minutes, and the game has a bit of a learning curve to begin with. The art style of The Elder Scrolls: Legends is definitely more realistic and less flashy than many other CCGs. It was disappointing to see that Bethesda priced card packs similarly to Hearthstone. Packs of two cards cost $2.99.

The game definitely differentiates itself from Hearthstone is some fun and clever ways. The rune mechanic which allows players to draw an extra card after sustaining five damage is also something that I hadn't really seen before in a CCG. If you draw a card with "prophecy" on it during this time, you are able to play it for free. This is definitely a cool comeback mechanic. Another awesome thing about The Elder Scrolls: Legends is the lore. The Hearthstone meta has become a little tired and it is refreshing to dive into a familiar universe. One last thing that really made the game enjoyable for me was the great voice acting. Jim Cummings, voice of Darkwing Duck, Dr. Robotnik from Sonic, and countless other amazing characters, definitely adds to the game with his excellent voice work.
