Nintendo's 'SNES Classic' Announced, Includes Star Fox 2 and 20 More Games
The next in Nintendo's minature console line features a slate of 21 games, including some rarities, for $79.99.
Nintendo has announced the SNES Classic Edition, another miniaturized plug-and-play console pre-loaded with a host of games from its 16-bit era. To sweeten the pot this time, the line-up includes some rare and never-released games.
It will come loaded with 21 games in all–venerated Nintendo classics like The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past and Super Mario World right alongside third-party games like Mega Man X, Secret of Mana, and Final Fantasy 3. For fans of game history, the SNES Classic includes Star Fox 2, the sequel that was developed but never actually released during the SNES era.
SNES Classic will launch on September 29 for $79.99. It will also come with not one but two Super NES styled controllers, to accommodate the two-player games included in the set like Contra 3: The Alien Wars and Street Fighter 2.
We had previously heard rumors of the SNES Classic Edition, which we concluded made sense as the explanation for Nintendo's plan to discontinue the wildly successful NES Classic. Now we know it was true. Check below for the full line-up of games:

I was just talking about FPS's. Outside of that you basically had western RPGs on PC and JRPGs on consoles. You don't hear about PC only platformers or anything like that of that era because Commander Keen couldn't compare to Mario. Certain control schemes just work better for certain game designs. They never got RTSs working well on consoles, for instance.

They were and they weren't. Very important things like analog stick movement, z-trigger lock-on, and complex 3D dungeons were figured out by Nintendo.
PC had FPS nailed down but third person movement and console shooter mechanics were nailed down by Super Mario 64 and Ocarina Of Time. Its kind of insane that the mechanics of Navi the fairy is used by nearly every console shooter and 3D RPG to this day.
