Watch the Ubisoft E3 Press Conference and Our Live Commentary Right Here
Expect to see Assassin's Creed Origins, Far Cry 5 and more.
We have four press conferences in the books so far, and Ubisoft is up next. The show will begin at 1 p.m. PT / 4 p.m. ET, and you can watch it right here, along with live commentary from our news team at the show.
Among the games expected to be shown are Assassin's Creed Origins, the next installment in the AC series that is set in Egypt this time. Far Cry 5 will also get some time, with the setting in Montana and focused on a religious cult that is armed to the teeth. Also expected are updates on the oft-delayed South Park: The Fractured But Hole, more on The Crew 2, and what's next for Tom Clancy titles Rainbow Six Siege, Ghost Recon Wildlands, The Division and For Honor. Perhaps we will also get the official reveal of the Rabbids-Mario crossover.
Check out our live commentary stream below, but if you want to see the press conference without our wise words, you can see that at the bottom.

Sounds like it's more like The Division and such--an MMO-lite game. Still interested, but we'll see.

Haha one of my ultimate goals in Sid Meier's Pirates was trying to turn every single city / port / town "Dutch" as they were generally the traders (and weakest nation in the game).
Managed it only once.
I was a tad disappointed when after doing it, it didn't seem to change the amount of each nation's ships on the seas.

That game went through 15 years in development hell, multiple engine changes, the lead developer changed companies etc I agree that it seems weird without context but any other company probably would have snuffed it out and it looks like its an expensive sequel with an army of people working on it, for a game that was a commercial failure initially (they bundled it with cheese in supermarkets. No joke). So this is a huge show of faith, large investment and a display of relief/gratitude by michel ancel who was clearly emotional and on the verge of tears when he came out.

" gameplay still looks desperately familiar " you could say this about any IP or franchise.
The new ARPG stuff is completely new, no other Assassin's Creed game has had it at this level, so that is completely new.
Then you have the new Eagle Vision where you control the eagle to scout targets, which is new gameplay.
Also the open world level/scale is totally new this thing is massive and on another level of size and detail. You play in an entire country, not small cities or areas.
So yeah...-
These are all features recycled from other Ubi games or the franchise itself though. Syndicate has RPG style character progression trees, Ghost Recon has had drones for years, and I still need to be convinced that the combat isn't terrible like the rest of the series.
Honestly, I loved the Ezio games and Black Flag, and Syndicate was the best possible use of the old formula. I just haven't seen anything here that makes me feel they've stepped as far away from it as they want us to believe.
Maybe the problem is how its been revealed - they really need a concise dev video covering why it's truly a step forward from a series that was getting very tired after eight previous entries (and that doesn't even include the side scroller trilogy).

Man the ARPG stuff they are showing right now in Assassin's Creed Origins looks amazing, this is what I always wanted in Assassin's Creed personally.
Man am I really happy right now.
Assassin's Creed Origins is going to be like Horizon Zero Dawn.
Holy shit the water looks crazy good and the scale of the game.

Miyamoto said on stage that he only had one directive for Ubisoft, which is make a Mario game unlike any that had been made before. They show the trailer and gameplay, it looks fantastic. Afterwards Yves took a moment to thank the game designer, they cut to him and he has tears in his eyes.
Dude is living his dream

They did a great job IMO. Most fun conference so far, no sections were too drawn out (hello Sea of thieves), and for a change they avoided going too far with the whacky side that's inevitable with Ubi too.
Their Youtube channel has lots of great dev interviews right after the show too which is spot on - show us everything on the surface, then let us dive deeper right away.
