E3 2017: XCOM 2: War of the Chosen Expansion Revealed
It will be coming out on August 29 for PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4
XCOM 2: War of the Chosen was revealed as the latest expansion for the series at the PC Gaming Show. It will be coming out on August 29.
The goal of this expansion to to make the game larger and give the player more to do, according to Jake Solomon, XCOM 2 game director at Firaxis. "We wanted to make something massive," he said. And to do that, they have added new enemies, environments and soldiers. And the enemies are The Chosen, a group of aliens designed specifically to counter XCOM.
Like the player's troops, the Chosen will get stronger as the game progresses. There will be three main types: The Assassin, who has a duty and honor to serve the master; A sniper style called The Hunter; and a rather nebulous sounding character called the Warlock.
Also, the game adds two additional factions in addition to XCOM, and three new soldier types: Reapers (marksmen), Skirmisher (defectors from alien army), and Templars (build up power over multiple attacks).
Solomon said the game will support 4K gaming and 60FPS, but that will likely be for PS4 and Xbox One users, and any PC users that have a high-end graphics card to support it.
