E3 2017: Backwards Compatibility For Original Xbox Games Coming To Xbox Live
Classic Xbox titles like Crimson Skies will be among the new Xbox Live backwards compatibility lineup.
Microsoft is proud of their efforts to bring backwards compatibility for older Xbox games to the Xbox One, and despite the huge number of last-gen games available on Xbox Live, players have eagerly awaiting the day when original Xbox games would land on their modern consoles. Well, that day is today, as Microsoft has confirmed that backwards compatibility for original Xbox games is coming soon to Xbox Live.
While Microsoft didnt provide any sort of list of the games they're planning on bringing to the service, they did confirm that the fan-favorite Xbox title Crimson Skies would be among the first to reach player's consoles. There's still a lot of life left in this year's E3, however, so we may hear more about Xbox backwards compatibility in the days to come. Stay tuned for details.

From what he was saying, the team is pretty rabid about the tech.
From my own years of doing Xbox standards testing, MSFT puts huge value on multiplayer functionality, so if the game supports LAN, they'll damn well want that to keep working, especially if that's the only way to play some old titles. I think it's an awesome decision.

If it upscales my disc, I might consider it too. PDO is one of those games that seemed so phenomenally beautiful for many years after it came out, but looking at it now, it's funny to me how old it looks compared to the images in my memory, that are super sharp, colorful and clean.
I have an OG Xbox still permanently hooked up to my TV in part for PDO and Gunvalkyrie! -
