Shack's Arcade Corner: Galaga
Greg is back with an episode about one of the all-time greats of the arcade. Pew! Pew!
This week on Shack's Arcade Corner we take a look at Galaga, the 1981 classic arcade space shooter. This game was one of the best selling cabinets of the 1980's. Galaga was produced and developed by Namco and distributed in North America by Midway Games. It was the sequel to the super popular Galaxian. Galaxian cabinets could be upgraded to Galaga with a mod kit. There were three styles of Galaga arcade cabinets: two standing and one tabletop version that was frequently seen at Pizza Huts back in the day. Players were tasked with setting a high score as they shot down alien combatants. Galaga has been ported to numerous platforms and has made cameos in several movies including Planes. Trains and Automobiles, War Games, Karate Kid and Avengers. Check out this video to find out even more awesome stuff about one of our favorite arcade games of all-time.
