WWDC: Apple Revamps App Store UI for iOS 11
With its App Store updates, Apple is looking to transform the store into more of a destination than an in-and-out process.
Apple premiered a dramatically renovated UI for its App Store at today's WWDC, one that simplifies releasing apps for developers as well as features such as a dedicated games section to streamline browsing.
The first thing users should notice in the brand-new App Store is the Today screen, a breakdown of new apps and important updates. Under the Today umbrella, Apple will curate a Game of the Day and an App of the Day. Speaking of games, you'll find them under their own tab complete with data on in-app purchases and other salient info. Similar to Steam, games and other apps will have revamped product pages to highlight user reviews, videos, and more.
Most importantly to developers, Apple has refined its approval process to make greater strides toward approving apps within 24 hours.
The overhauled App Store will ship with iOS 11 when it releases later this year.
