Inside the Junk Food Lobby's Plans to Derail RFK's Agenda

    https://www.leefang.com/p/inside-the-junk-food-lobbys-plans

RealClearInvestigations has learned that representatives of companies that make snack foods, sugary beverages, and cooking oils are already meeting to discuss how to thwart the reform agenda of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., the former consumer rights attorney Trump has said he will nominate to lead the Department of Health and Human Services.
    ...
Although much of the early criticism of Kennedy’s nomination has focused on his skepticism regarding some vaccines, the nominee is a longtime critic of the food industry, which he says is a leading contributor to America’s obesity epidemic. In recent months, he has called for a crackdown on food additives, limits on certain crop protection chemicals, stronger guidelines regarding what he says are conflicts of interest among regulators and business, and a review of any substance causing, what he argues, Americans to be “mass poisoned by big pharma and big food.”

The vaccine stuff really sucks but maybe there's a silver lining? It would be amazing to see a big crackdown on stuff like corn syrup being added to everything.

    New Stalker 2 thread

I'm bummed out! It's not great. It's not even good. Maybe a year of patches and community mods can fix it but it's a hot mess right now. Bugs everywhere / broken quests. The AI seems missing. You'll clear a camp and then 5 dogs spawn right behind you and kill you as you loot the first dead enemy. The controls stink. It runs badly on UE5.

If anyone has any tips or fun stories about it I'm down to hear them... this was like my most anticipated game on GP this year and it's a letdown.

Star Wars: Outlaws - Now on Steam! https://store.steampowered.com/app/2842040/Star_Wars_Outlaws/

25% off currently as well. The newest patch, 1.4.0 apparently fixes a lot of stuff, and gets rid of stealth almost across the board from what I'm reading. You can still do it, but it's not "a stealth game" anymore..

This Title Update brings changes to combat and stealth allowing for greater player choice, the ability to now keep pick-up weapons in more situations, visual options to allow for a sharper image and much more to improve your journey across the galaxy.

Is the best Pirating game still... SID MEIER'S PIRATES! from 20 years ago??? Based on a MicroProse game from 1987?? Don't get me wrong: I loved Assassin's Creed III and Black Flag, and enjoyed Rogue and some of the other AC games that let you do pirating stuff.

And Sea Of Thieves has its moments, if you wanna do multiplayer. Don't even talk to me about Skull & Bones.

BUT I WANT A BRAND NEW AAAA PIRATING EXPERIENCE! Ok TBH I'd even settle for a modern remake of Sid Meier's game...

Yeah that game came out almost 20 years ago, November 22, 2004. I bought the DVD special edition and made some DVD covers for it, and even a ShackFlag you could install!

    Shacknews FLAG EXAMPLES:

Shacknews Flag you can install in the 2004 PC game:

DVD COVERS (the LE of the physical PC game didn't come a box for the DVD so I made my own and created a cover for it):

debating between a MacBook air and the new QUALCOMM surface laptop.

kinda want the MacBook because MS has done so much to piss me off lately, and also just something new to play with (I've used macos a decent amount the last 20 years, but never owned a device myself).

but how much will I hate the shitty 60hz screen? that's the main thing keeping me from going that route. anyone else have experience with similar concerns?

Andy Beshear's opinion on Democrat's path forward (putting this in a separate post so it doesn't get buried)

    https://www.nytimes.com/2024/11/12/opinion/democratic-party-future-kentucky.html

TL;DR, basically Dems have to meet people on the issues impacting them. You can still be progressive in other areas, but you are lost if people don't think you care about them. Andy won a very red state re-election and he vetoed some of the crazy anti-LBGTQ+ issues our supermajority tried to push through.
