That's not a very true statement. Or it's very misleading. 400,000 of those are American's 75 and older. 200,000 are over the age of 85. Arguing that dying after 75 is before their time is rather ridiculous. It's sad for all the people involved - death is almost always sad - but "before their time"? Nah.

I'm also curious to know which magical worldwide leadership would have kept a new virus from killing a single soul in the world. Is the thought that if we all holed up in our homes - 100% of the world had zero contact with another human being for ...what a month? Worldwide everybody. No food delivery, no hospitals working (which would kill a lot of people but hey it's not Covid deaths so who cares). That would have done it? Because, otherwise, as long as one person got it - one person in all the world - it's all going to spread again. Which is why gatekeeping doesn't work - there's scientific simulations for this you can see.

Follow up to my other thread about protesting Texas not doing anything to protect kids in schools.

The Principal was on a PTA call tonight about my kids upcoming school events (think Ice Cream Social, Bingo etc). A PTA parent suggested we should follow guidance and include verbiage on the invites that strongly recommends masks. This is what the Principal answered:

“Well here in Texas we don’t follow what the CDC or AAP says, we follow Gov Abbott.”

Makes my blood fucking boil. On top of that we got notified that a kid in my son’s class was confirmed Covid positive today. Like what the fuck am I supposed to do right now?!
